Palm Tree Lends a Hand to Outreach to Haiti, a sponsored ministry of the Diocese of Norwich

Diocese of Norwich Outreach to Haiti, a sponsored ministry of the Diocese of Norwich, is committed to serve the people of Haiti in the spirit and values of the Gospel. Providing sacramental and spiritual support, Outreach to Haiti offers education, health care, parish twinning opportunities, and community development for Haitians in need and hospitality to international volunteers and visitors.

Haitian Ministries for the Diocese of Norwich and Hospice St. Joseph for the Diocese of Norwich—each of which has been in Haiti for more than two decades—merged together in December 2010, but today the organization has a fresh new look.

The Results!

After months of collaboration with Middletown-based web design agency Palm Tree Creative, April 6, 2011 saw the launch of Outreach to Haiti's new website. The easy-to-navigate interface was designed to organize and showcase the programs. The new site also keeps the community updated by highlighting events, announcements, newsletters, and media information.

Kyn Tolson, Outreach to Haiti's Education & Development Director, calls the new website "a great reflection of the type of organization we are -- its simple layout and navigation make it easier for visitors to learn about our programs and how they can help."

The website also serves as the new home for Haiti's Back Porch, which has supported artists of Haiti exclusively for more than 15 years. Their art is purchased from them in Haiti, so they receive in full the prices they set. All profits from the store go back to Haiti, to support our programs and to bring more Haitian artists into world markets through Haiti’s Back Porch.
